Question and Answer

A 1989 recording of straight-ahead jazz played by the all-star trio of Pat Metheny on guitar, Dave Holland on bass, and Roy Haynes on drums. This is true group improvisation, with the level of interaction between the three occasionally breath-taking, although the main focus is inevitably on Metheny’s long and inspired flights of fancy. The highlights are Metheny’s tune ‘H & H’, which is the catchiest on the album, the atmospheric ‘Change of Heart’, and a version of ‘All the things you are’ which proves there is life in the old dog yet.
