V-8 Ford Blues
This is the best collection of Mose’s early vocals. He is quite dismissive about these performances in the sleeve notes, since he always wanted to be known as a pianist; his early albums often only include one or two vocals. But the public always liked his singing best: his quirky, rhythmically jerky piano playing is an acquired taste, but his smooth, knowing blues vocals are quite addictive. Highlights include ‘Back on the Corner’, ‘Life is Suicide’, ‘You’re a Sweetheart’, ‘Mad with you’, and ‘Fool’s Paradise’.
