Messy, noisy fusion of avant-garde jazz and rock, which opens with German tenor legend Peter Brötzmann doing his best Albert Ayler, while Sonny Sharrock absent-mindedly plucks some psychedelic guitar; it’s not long until a grinding rock groove is established. The most memorable section of the album, if not perhaps the highlight, is drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson’s manic vocal on ‘Big Boss Man’ which rapidly gives way to some absurd honking by Brötzmann; the latter is given the title ‘Sore Titties’, although there aren’t really any distinct tracks on this largely continuous free-for-all.
